Victoria and Albert Museum Cafe #HogsAbroad in England

It has been a crazy busy week of applications for numerous things back home, but now that they’ve all been turned in, I can start focusing on studying for my classes here.. oops  I didn’t quite make it through the entire Victoria and Albert Museum on my last visit there, and I’ve heard that their cafe (the first museum cafe in the world, it’s been around since the 1800s!) is amazing, so I thought I would go check it out and study there. This morning I had a genetics lab where we basically isolated and ran an experiment on our own DNA (cool), but after that I headed to the museum.

It is beautiful.

This particular room is called the Gamble Room, and there are 2 other adjacent rooms, just as beautiful. It’s basically a self service cafe and then you can enjoy your food here, or in the Garden Cafe right outside (the courtyard area from one of my last pictures at the V&A). They also do afternoon tea! I’ve long been a sucker for beautiful spaces, and there’s nothing better than surrounding yourself with something like this. I was able to get a lot of work done, and I’m super thankful that I have access to places like this!! London is the best.

For dinner, I met up with some friends and we went to an area in Southwark called Flat Iron Square. There’s just a bunch of fun restaurants in this little enclosure, and we had some YUMMY ramen. And after that, because I love to finish my meals with something sweet, we went to get gelato at a place in Borough Market which was nearby; I had Eton Mess (berries and cream) and Dark Chocolate (both soooo good). The best part, I’m talking to you especially Tyler, before they put the ice cream on the cone, they fill the cone with melted chocolate. W O W. As one of my friends put it, this was not what I needed, but also exactly what I needed.

Super short post; I’m trying to be better about posting more regularly so I don’t have like 5 different places within one post haha. I’ll close this one out with a picture from my walk to class today. It’s the little things

With lots of love and hot tea,
-Katie
