Applications are now open for the Rome Center for Spring 2019! Coursework is available in History, Art, Communication, Architecture and Humanities. The deadline to apply is September 15! ISA Rome: Italian Culture & Liberal Arts-January Intersession Program
Application Deadline: October 15, 2018
Summer is a great time to start thinking about applying for January Intersession and Spring 2019 programs! ISA is an external program offering January Intersession, or J-Term, programs. The J-Term (January Term) program at The American University of Rome (AUR) is designed for students wanting to complete a Culture or Liberal Arts course in an intensive format. This program can be taken as a precursor to a semester program or as an individual program. This program is ideal for students looking for the iconic Italian experience short term. For more information, click here. If you decide to apply for an external program, don’t forget to apply through the U of A on Hogs Abroad, too!

AIFS Study Abroad: Berlin, Germany-January Intersession Program
Application Deadline: September 15, 2018
AIFS is offering a 3-week January term in Berlin, Germany! Courses are offered in culture, history, law, politics, religion, and social science. Classes are taught in German and in English and no previous German language study is required. More information on this program is available on the AIFS website. If you decide to apply for an external program, don’t forget to apply on Hogs Abroad, too!

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, provides fully funded grants for post-graduate individual study, research, or English Teaching Assistantships in over 150 countries worldwide. The 2019-2020 Fulbright U. S. student competition is now open. An info session will be held on Tuesday, April 17 in Gearhart Hall 206 for those interested in research and study abroad through the Fulbright Program. For those interested in English Teaching Assistantships, another info session will be held on Wednesday, April 18 in the Honors Lounge (Gearhart 103). April 4-5, 2018
The Study Abroad Office hopes that you will go #Allin4Arkansas with us during the 3rd annual All in for Arkansas fundraising drive and help grow our scholarship funds for deserving U of A students to study around the world. The online giving day kicks off at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4th and concludes at 1:11 p.m. on Thursday, April 5th. Why the odd time? The event runs for 1,871 minutes in honor of the U of A’s founding year.

  • GIVE to grow study abroad scholarships!

Go Overseas is an external program that partners with other institutions to help students study abroad. They are currently accepting applications for a scholarship to study in Ireland that includes a tuition waiver and stipend for qualified students. Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program
Summer 2018 & Fall/Academic Year 2018-2019 Application Deadline: March 6
The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. The Gilman Scholarship Program is open to U.S. citizen undergraduate students who are either currently receiving Federal Pell Grant funding or are Pell Grant eligible. Walton Study Abroad Instagram Photo Contest
Runs from February 19-March 2.
The annual Walton study abroad Instagram photo contest begins February 19th and will run through March 2nd. Submit up to 5 photos to be featured on the Walton study abroad Instagram and for a chance to win a small, first place prize! Please submit a caption along with the photo (as well as your name, major, and location of study abroad experience) to wcobgeo@uark.edu. Identify one of the following categories for each photo entry: 1) Culture, 2) Local People, 3) Places, 4) Historic, 5) HogsAbroad. Photos must be from study abroad or international internship experiences between Jan. 2017-Jan. 2018. Send in your study abroad pictures and have fun!

We also have many opportunities for our returning study abroad students to help with promotional events or participate on student panels about their study abroad experience. Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. The Gilman Scholarship Program is open to U.S. citizen undergraduate students who are either currently receiving Federal Pell Grant funding or are Pell Grant eligible. Study Abroad Office Hours
The office is open from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Walk-In Wednesdays will resume the first week of classes, on Wednesday, January 17th, from 1:00pm – 4:30 pm. Walk-In Wednesdays are a great option for those who have a couple of questions, need a form signed, or just want to touch base with an advisor for a few minutes.

Boren Awards
The U of A campus deadline is January 22
Students must pursue study of languages, geographic areas and fields of study critical to U.S. National Security. Recipients are expected to fulfill service requirement with U.S. government upon graduation or termination of studies. An appointment with the Boren on-campus advisor, DeDe Long (dslong@uark.edu), is required as part of application process.
