Getting Ready for Madrid!

Hey everyone! My name is Brooke Atwell. I am a Walton College Honors and Fulbright student at the UofA. I am studying International Business with a concentration in Marketing, and Spanish. I am thrilled to be spending my June studying Spanish in Madrid, Spain!

I leave June 1 and have done so much to prepare for my study abroad adventure! I started months ago by finding scholarships to aid me in paying for my trip. I was blessed to receive funding from the Honors College! After the logistics were arranged, I began to make doctors appointments, shop for appropriate clothes, and research life in Madrid. Unfortunately at the doctor's office, I had to get 3 shots! Don't be afraid though...I was a little behind...oops. 

I checked the weather for summers in Spain and began the hunt for shorts, nice tops, and light jackets. Then, I read up about the culture in Spain and before I knew it I was buying a ticket to a bullfight! I have also purchased tickets to travel to Rome and Barcelona on the weekends. Also, I was fortunate enough to email my Señora and talk with her a bit about my preparations. As June 1 approaches, I am a bundle of energy and nerves! I can not wait to improve my Spanish language skills and share the Spanish life with my host family. ¡España, lista o no, aquí vengo!
