U of A Faculty-Led: Medieval England Info Session, Wednesday, November 8

Come learn about earning 6 credit hours while exploring throughout England during Summer Session 2, 2018. Dr. William Quinn, Distinguished Professor of English, is the faculty leader and will be available at that time to provide information and answer questions. International Education Week Events

International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of the University of Arkansas' efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States. Hogs Abroad 101 Sessions
Center for World Languages: JBHT 207, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Every Tuesday & Wednesday!
Learn the study abroad basics – program types, locations, housing options, scholarships, etc. – through these peer-led info sessions. These take place weekly from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the semester. Space is limited to the first 25 students each week, so get there early!

Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program for Summer 2018

Sponsored by the U.S. State Department, The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program aims to expand the number of Americans studying critical languages. CLS places value on the ability to tie increased language proficiency to a student’s career.

Teaching Abroad Opportunities
Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program
Application Deadline: November 9
The JET Program is a competitive employment opportunity that allows young professionals to live and work in cities, towns, and villages throughout Japan. Being a JET is an opportunity to work and to represent the United States as cultural ambassadors to Japan. Most participants serve as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and work in public and private schools throughout Japan; some work as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) as interpreters/translators.

TAPIF – Teaching Assistant Program in France
Application Deadline: January 15
The Teaching Assistant Program in France offers you the opportunity to work in France for 7 months, teaching English to French students of all ages. Each year, over 1,100 American citizens and permanent residents teach in public schools across all regions of metropolitan France and in the overseas departments such as French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Réunion.
The application for the 2018-2019 school year is now available at www.tapif.org

If you haven’t already done so, now is a great time to locate your birth certificate and submit a passport application. You can find instructions on how to apply using the following link: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html.

You can also visit U of A Passport Services at pmcs.uark.edu/passport-services/.

And, once you have your passport, be sure to log in to your Hogs Abroad Portal to upload your passport information to your application!
