Fika is a word the Swedes use to describe the concept of a coffee break with friends usually served with a pastry or sandwich. Coffee is not to be consumed in the classroom by students, this is seen as rude and a dismissal to other students and teachers for a possibility of a Fika after the lesson.
Most days after class at Jonkoping University, the HTA team could be found in small groups around the university court yard enjoying fika, and discussing the lecture with professors. Our last week spent in Stockholm we were able to discover and try many different coffee shops.
Fika is a time to eat, drink, and take a break from school or work. Here are some pictures of coffee spots around Sweden, and some of the delicious treats:
