Major:Animal Science and Nutrition/Dietetics
Classification:Senior

My name is Mersady Redding. I grew up in a small town nestled in the Ozark Mountains called Marshall, Arkansas. I am a junior double majoring in Nutrition/Dietetics and Animal Science with a concentration on pre-veterinary medicine. The University of Arkansas has offered me some of the best experiences and opportunities of my life. The summer after my freshman year, I studied abroad through the U of A community development program in Mozambique, Africa. While there, I conducted studies focused on vaccination protocol on a poultry farm. In the summer of 2017, I will spend eight weeks in Dangriga, Belize conducting mammal and biodiversity research in Billy Barquedier National Park

I have a passion for leadership and innovation. I hold active roles in my departments, as well as the Bumpers Honors College. I am an Animal Science REPS member, the Vice President of the Pre-Vet Club, a member of the Student Dietetics Association, the 2017 Bumpers Honors College Lead Mentor, and the Mentor Liaison on the Bumpers College Honors Student Board.

In my free time, I enjoy floating the Buffalo River, attending UREC Fitness classes and creating my own healthy recipes. I hope to soon gain certification in personal training.

After graduating, I will pursue my masters in animal science and a PhD or D.V.M. and continue research in human nutrition and health, animal science, and community development.
