Amazing Race: Delhi Edition #HogsAbroad in India

The ‘Amazing Race’ is today!! I’m so excited!! We came up with a pretty good strategy and made sure to plan out our stops. We ended up coming in 2nd place, which is impressive given the Cakes and Petals incident. This race was extremely fun and I loved getting to use not only various modes of transportation but to also see various parts of Delhi.

It was during this part of our interactions with the FIIB students that I saw a different side of Faisal. The trip started out really great and everyone was in great spirits as we came up with a plan. We had some conflict with the plan because Faisal wanted us to go a certain way that would take longer and have us going back and forth to places that were far away. Devon came up with a really good idea that would be more time efficient but he didn’t want to listen to her, he wanted to go with his plan – which is understandable.

Faisal was born in Delhi and he said that he had lived there his whole life and that we should trust him – so we did. It was very frustrating interacting with Faisal during the Amazing Race because he didn’t want to listen to any of the girls’ suggestions and he would only talk to Will. Whenever he wanted to share something with us, he would only say it to Will and expect the rest of the of us to hear what was said. This was the most challenging part of the day. Other than that, I enjoyed getting to explore Delhi and seeing the diversity of the city.

We once again stopped at the Cottage and I bought some ceramic elephants. Before coming on this trip and even after the prep classes, I didn’t have an idea of the depth of the diversity of the artisan crafts. The craft shop had everything from children’s clothes to book to painted jewelry boxes to hand-carved sandstone figurines. It was truly amazing to see just how much they had.
