If you are interested in studying,
researching, or teaching English abroad, come learn about the Fulbright U.S.
Student Program! The Office of Nationally Competitive Awards will host
informational meetings on Wednesday,
April 24th at 4pm in Silas Hunt Hall room 223 (the
upstairs tour room) and Thursday,
April 25th at 4pm in Silas Hunt Hall room 145 (the
downstairs tour room). All students are welcome, but rising seniors and current graduate
students are particularly encouraged to attend.
Established
in 1946 through legislation created by Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright,
the Fulbright U.S. Student Program allows recent graduates and graduate
students to study or research within their field, as well as teach English, in
one of more than 140 countries for an academic year.
This
program is not just for majors in the Fulbright College! Fulbright opportunities are available for all fields of
study, and recent winners from the University of Arkansas have been students in
the College of Education and Health Professions (Katherine Branum, ’18,
communication disorders; English Teaching Assistantship in Costa Rica); the
College of Engineering and the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences (Casey
Gibson, ’18, biological engineering and Spanish; English Teaching Assistantship
in Mexico); and the Fulbright College (Stephanie Galen, ’18, international
economics; English Teaching Assistantship in Bulgaria). You can learn more
about the program here: https://us.fulbrightonline.org/about/fulbright-us-student-program.
If
you plan to attend a meeting, please RSVP to Jonathan Langley at jtlangl@uark.edu by Tuesday, April 23rd.
Both meetings will cover the same information, so please choose the time that
is most convenient for your schedule. If you would like to learn about the
program but cannot attend either meeting, please contact Jonathan Langley to
set up an appointment.
