This May intersession I will be studying abroad at the University of Arkansas Rome Center and could not be more excited about it. I will be learning all about the Reggio-Emilia Approach, which is basically a different approach to teaching children. I am beyond excited to go learn about the approach and how different schools in Italy use this in the classrooms with students. This study abroad program will be my first time out of the country, which makes me very nervous and extremely excited all at the same time.
To help prepare myself for what to expect on this trip I did a little research about where it was that I was going exactly and what amazing things I will have the opportunity to go visit. Another way to help prepare myself is, my friend and I went and bought a book of different common Italian phrases so that way when we get there we aren’t completely clueless on what to say. I have heard that this is a good idea from friends who have studied abroad before, so hopefully it will be useful to us! With the research and phrase book I hope that I step off the airplane with enough information to help me get to where I need to go, after that I am just going to enjoy Rome and let the adventure begin!
