WEEK THIRTEEN #HogsAbroad in Denmark

This weeks marks one month left in Copenhagen, and so the pressure is officially on to take advantage of the time I have left here! So, I really made an effort to get out and do more things in the city (and take advantage of the beautiful weather)! Highlights of this week include a trip to Dragør, finally seeing Tivoli, and an afternoon exploring Nørrebro.

Dragør
One of my good friends from home visited Copenhagen this past summer, and while he was here he also went to a tiny town about 45 min south called Dragør. He said it was one of his favorite places he’d ever been, and so he had been pressuring me since I’ve gotten here to go. It is connected to a bus that stops a ten minute walk from my house, so I really had no excuse not to go at some point. This week, I finally found time, and it was super fun to just explore a quaint little Danish town! The city itself is right near the water, and is full of yellow houses and cobblestones. Liv and I walked around and got to see a glimpse into Danish life that isn’t living in the middle of the capital city.

Tivoli
Tivoli is an amusement park right in the middle of the city, and the second oldest amusement park in the world (and was said to have inspired Walt Disney)! I walk past it everyday on the way to school, but I hadn’t yet found time to go. Every Friday when the summer season starts, there is a concert at night, and so I decided this would be the perfect time to see Tivoli. We didn’t actually know who the performer was before going, but it ended up being Christopher, a pretty popular Danish pop artist. The crowd was really into his songs and there were even little girls with “Chris” written on their foreheads, which made the whole experience even better. It was really fun and a perfect time for a non-amusement park lover like me to visit Tivoli (which is a Copenhagen must-see at some point).
Nørrebro
I’ve been trying really hard to take advantage of my time left in Copenhagen, and Nørrebro is one of the neighborhoods that I wished I had more time to explore, so I went out there with Liv just to walk around. We visited Assistens once again, which is a really cool cemetery, and I actually got around to finding Hans Christen Anderson’s grave this time. It was fun to get deeper into the neighborhood and see CPH look more like a real city rather than the picturesque area I live in, which has a distinctly different feel than Nørrebro.

That’s all for this week! Next week is a travel break so I will be spending it solo-traveling through Spain (Madrid and Barcelona here I commmmmme!!!), hej hej for now!
