Countdown to International Education Week 2017 - Germany #HogsAbroad

International Education Week is just two weeks away! Today, we are going to honor my birth country: Germany

With over 82 million inhabitants, Germany is the most populous member of the European Union. The name for Germany in the German language is Deutschland. Its capital and largest city is Berlin. Other major cities include Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt. Germany is bordered by Denmark to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, Austria to the southeast, Switzerland to the south and southwest, France, Luxembourg, and Belgium to the west, and the Netherlands to the northwest. It is also bordered by the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. It’s national air carrier, Lufthansa, is based out of Frankfurt Airport. In fact, as of summer 2017, Frankfurt Airport serves 293 destinations, making it the airport with the most direct routes in the world! Fun fact: the Nobel Prize has been awarded to 107 German citizens! For the sports fans, Germany has won the World Cup 4 times, tied for second most with Italy (Brazil is the only country with more World Cup titles: 5). Popular tourist destinations include Europa Park, Berlin TV Tower, and the very beautiful Neuschwanstein Castle! Let me know if you want to talk more about Germany!
