Countdown to International Education Week 2017 - Brazil #HogsAbroad #WanderlustWednesday

International Education Week (November 13-17, 2017) is coming up soon! It is a week of celebration and an opportunity to share the benefits of studying abroad. To celebrate as we approach International Education week, I will periodically post pictures representing a few countries I’ve been to and a few facts about that country!

First up, Brazil! Brazil is a large country in South America (the largest in South and Latin America). It gets its name from the Portuguese word for the Brazilwood tree. It is the 5th largest country in the world by area and ranks 6th in terms of population (over 200 million). Brazil shares a border with every South American country except for Chile and Ecuador. Its capital is Brasília and its largest city is São Paulo, which populates over 12 million people. Brazil has won the World Cup 5 times and recently hosted the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Popular tourist locations include Christ the Redeemer and Copacabana (both in Rio de Janeiro) and Iguaçu Falls (situated on the border of Brazil and Argentina).
