Adventures from Newi #HogsAbroad in Australia
There was a free wildlife park available to the public located about 30 min south of Newcastle. Here you could bring snacks for the kangaroos and they come right up to you! If you're not careful, though, they will try and claw at you to get your food.
This photo is when me and another American, Morgan, who lives and studies in Michigan, went to an Australian Football League game in Melbourne. AFL is a bit of a mix between American football and rugby.
One of Morgan and I's favorite activities was our sunrise surf sessions at a local beach. Morgan and I never joined in on the actual surfing, but rather just watch our 3 favorite Aussie boys do their thing as we sat on the beach and watched as the sun rose over the horizon.
In September, I made a trip down to South Island, New Zealand and this was the view near the top of a 16km hike. It was a rigorous climb that took nearly 6 hours round trip but most definitely worth it.
On one of our last days in NZ, we visited Milford Sound and it was absolutely stunning! We took a boat tour around, and although it was very cold, the beauty of it distracted us from the numbness on our faces.
Elise, a Chemistry major, spent a year with our exchange program at the University of Newcastle, Australia.
