Catch Up Blog…Two Weeks of Adventure! #HogsAbroad in Ireland

It has been a while since I have updated this, but I have been so busy. Time for a brief low-down of the last two weeks! I apologize for taking so long, and also that this blog will cover so much! I hope to do better, posting at least once a week!!

Final Meal with Dr. Meade
On Friday, we officially finished the two-week Intercultural Communications Course. We went to The Green Hen, a French restaurant in the city center of Dublin. We talked a lot about how the course went, what we learned, and what we were expecting in the next six-weeks. It was a lot of fun, and also very relaxing! (Especially since I had just toured the Guinness Storehouse, but more on that in a minute).

The food was absolutely amazing, so good that I took pictures to document. Don’t get too jealous!!

Guinness Storehouse
On Friday morning, a few classmates and I decided to check out the Guinness Storehouse right here in Dublin. While I am not typically a beer drinker, I knew that since I was in Dublin, I had to check it out.

The tour took about 2 hours, and ended on the top of the Storehouse. The view was breathtaking, which I typically say about everything in this amazing country! Anyway, we concluded with a trip to the gift shop, where I’ll admit, I splurged on a few things!

Return to the Cliffs of Mohr
On Saturday morning, I had to be up and ready to move at 6:30, because I was going back to the Cliffs of Mohr with the other Global Experiences interns. The trip was unbelievable. The weather was sunny, clear, and gorgeous, and as a result, I got to hike more of the trail and take a ton of gorgeous and unreal photos.

I wander around the side trail with a friend, daring to get closer to the edge for better pictures. I could not believe the beauty that I saw. Every time we stopped, we had to take a picture. I was sad to go, but so glad that I had the chance to go back!

Taste of Dublin
After a fun evening out in Dublin, I headed back to the dorms, because I had great plans for Sunday! When Sunday came around, there was a food and drink festival called the Taste of Dublin. I had bought my ticket back in March, so I was excited to finally go. In the park, there were various food, drink, and gear vendors. I did not really buy anything, but the experience alone was unique. I got to sample a variety of different Irish foods and brands.

Not only were the food and drinks good, but the live music was too! There was a group of three men who walked around, stopped and just played a cover of any artist that you named. It was really well done, and made the experience so memorable!

Start of the Internship
Finally, the real reason I am here in Dublin has come. Since it is the first week, I do not have too much to day, but I can tell you that I am so excited to work for Follow the Camino and One Foot Abroad. My boss and my other coworkers have made it really easy to fit in and fall into place.

The office is really laid back, and all of my coworkers are very inviting and fun. We all have a job to do, obviously, but the atmosphere is very relaxed and overall happy. There was already a birthday party in the office!!

For the most part, my job will entail working on projects for my boss, who is the Communications Director for the office. I have also been put in charge of the social media pages for one of the companies. It is definitely challenging my creative side, because I have to work with three different sites! I am also writing and editing blogs, which is much more up my alley.

As I know more and as I learn more, I am excited to share my work experiences with you!! Until next time, cheers!
