A Few Faces of Denmark #HogsAbroad #DISAbroad

Hello, my name is Josh Upshaw. I am a senior at the University of Arkansas majoring in psychology and minoring in business management. This summer I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark for six weeks. During this time I took the psychology of human sexuality and positive psychology. This experience was amazing and I will never forget it. For my blog I wanted to chronicle some of the people I met while abroad because they are what made the experience so incredible.
This was my positive psychology professor Line. She was always super happy and her smile never went away. She taught me so much about being mindful and creating a positive light around yourself that could illuminate the lives of others around you.
This is my Danish buddy Morten who I spent a lot of time with while abroad. We to concerts together and had a great time hanging out.
While I was in Scotland for a study tour, we ran into several individuals in the classic Scottish attire and this gentleman was kind enough to let me take a picture with him.
In between my first and second classes in Copenhagen, I traveled to London to spend some time with my cousin Chris who recently got married and had a baby and is stationed in there in the Navy. I hadn’t seen him in four or five years and it was like we were never apart when we hung out.
In my positive psychology class, we had professional bodyguard and entrepreneur Thomas James Thomsen speak with us about his life story and triumphs in the face of adversity. He has worked with Mariah Carey, Ed Sheeran, and the Play Boy Mansion. He had an amazing and inspiring story.

Here I am with my buddy, Saad, from Indiana University. We were about to embark on a kayaking adventure on Loch Lomond in Scotland to practice the art of engaging in flow.

Here I am again with Saad about to enjoy high tea and practice the art of savoring.

My experience studying abroad will last me a lifetime in the incredible memories I made. It opened my eyes to the possibility of better ways of life for society as a whole. In Denmark people were concerned with the welfare of all their neighbors and not just with fulfilling their self-serving needs as is the American way. Anyways, that’s another story. To sum up my experience, I laughed, I loved, and I truly lived. Please make Denmark a future travel destination.
