Ahoj!!<–Hello! For those of you who don’t know and clicked on my
blog link out of curiosity, it is officially 26 days until I’m on my way
to the beautiful Prague!
Throughout the weeks while I’m in Prague, I will be doing my best to
keep everyone updated with new blogs posts and pictures for those who
are interested in joining my journey. A little information on how I
chose this beautiful city of the Czech Republic and my journey: I had
seen all my siblings get the amazing opportunity to study and travel
abroad to many different places and I knew that this was something I
wanted to do, I just had no idea where I actually wanted to go.
My first
choice was Australia, something about the beautiful beaches and the
exotic animals drew me to having Australia on the top of my list of
places to travel. Long story short, things didn’t work out as I planned
and unfortunately that will be a place I will plan on traveling to
another time if the opportunity ever presents itself again. My second
place on my list was the beautiful Barcelona. In all honesty, I had
watched The Cheetah Girls 2 with a friend where they headed to Barcelona
to perform for a concert and that was why I wanted to go there. (not
the best reason but hey..The Cheetah Girls were awesome back then)
Unfortunately I don’t have the skills of retaining a second language as
well as my sister Abby does and I found that I had a fear I wouldn’t be
able to truly “fit in” there.
I knew I needed a place that mainly spoke
English so that I could feel comfortable traveling abroad (for the first
time ever and ALONE). I won’t lie, I had no idea where the heck Prague
was when I was scrolling through the places that were offered through
hogs abroad AND I still see confused looks on some people when I tell
them where I’m headed. I was instantly curious about Prague and
researched some more information. I found some fun facts for those who
don’t know much about Prague. One of the little facts that I’ve heard
the most from everyone that I’ve talked to was that Prague was left
untouched during WWII which is incredibly amazing. Fact 2: the Prague
Castle (which I can’t wait to visit) is in the Guinness Book of World
Records as the largest castle in the world!!! Fact 3: the locals of
Prague drink more beer per capita than any other country in the world…so
unfortunately, I may have to learn to like beer :(
Like I said, I plan on keeping up with this blog for everyone who’s
interested and because I have to post at least 2-3 blogs for the
scholarship that I received to help pay for this trip.
Side note: HUGEEEEE thank you to my awesome parents for giving me
this wonderful opportunity that not many others get to enjoy in their
lifetime. I am forever grateful and plan on getting everything out of
this trip and more!
