The Wild Atlantic Way is a route that winds through the western parts
of Ireland and measures over 2,500km in length. Some of Ireland’s most
breathtaking scenery can be found along this route. So far, I have seen
Connemara, the Burren and the Ring of Kerry, but by far my favorite is
the Dingle Peninsula.
The Dingle Peninsula is the western most point of Ireland featuring
some of the most dramatic landscapes
and views Ireland has to offer. Everything from the rocky shores of
Slea Head to the sandy beaches and sheep – lots and lots of sheep – can
be seen on the drive along the peninsula. Stand in awe looking out at
the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean while enjoying the
solitude this peaceful retreat provides.

Dingle Peninsula not only gives visitors the chance to experience beautiful views, but also
pieces of history.
Driving along the route you will find many different archaeological
sites from the Iron Age, as well as remnants of original Irish cottages
that were abandoned during the Great Famine. These sights remind us of
how long people have been living on this island and how much they have
experienced over the years.

At the start of the peninsula loop is the the town of Dingle. This
charming and colorful town is worth the stay and has a variety of
B&B’s to choose from. Seafood and traditional music are never absent
in this coastal town. Spend part of the day
wandering the streets or walking along the harbor, all while taking in the lovely sights and sounds.

The next time you find yourself in
Ireland, be sure to make a stop in Dingle. You won’t regret it!
