The Daily Grind Monday-Thursday #HogsAbroad in Spain

Some of you may recall that I am actually here in Spain to work, and although it doesn’t seem like I am ever working, let me tell you…..

Work days here are also 8 hours, butttttt you work from 9am-2pm, then go home from 2pm-4pm, then come back from 4pm – 7pm. Monday – Thursday. So really, during the week, I do not have much time for adventure-ing although I do try my best.

The company I work for is called Terminis, but the owner actually owns 3 businesses. So really, I am involved in all three. I had looked up the company before I came, but I didn’t really understand the website much. To my surprise, their main company is actually a lawyer firm. I am the only non lawyer in the office, but they are all really young, and we all get along really well!

Since the companies are basically start ups, they needed help getting more exposure, and that is where I come in. I have had the chance to learn how to use programs such as Instapage, Mailchimp, Canva, etc on platforms like Google Adwords, Twitter Analytics, Google Analytics, and many more. It is definitely much more exposure than I had had to these kinds of things before, but the fun part is that they all studied law – not marketing- so we are all learning together. I think that this made this a  better experience for me since we all had questions, so we felt free to ask away.

I have had a chance to work on marketing campaigns, listen in and participate in their meetings, and my *favorite task- answer the phone.

If you are reading this, I have probably missed your call at least once, so we all know how much I love talking on the phone. I was so nervous to answer their phones because 1. I receive the phone calls for the Valencia office and the Barcelona office totaling to roughly 10 extensions of people I don’t know 2. Spanish people speak really fast, and although I am fluent, I cannot keep up. 3. “What legal document got delivered where?” 4.” Huh?” 5. “One more time please.”

Honestly, I have benefited a lot by answering the phones. I practice my professional Spanish a lot more, and although I still have a mini panic attack every time the phone rings, I feel much more comfortable with this basic task.

*hate
**fun fact** the phone rang 10 times while I wrote this
