A Trip to Tuscania: Day 19 #HogsAbroad in Rome

Really quickly before I start on today, can we just look back at the fact that I literally mentioned I have no idea what it is when I type out the titles of these things and I actually managed to repeat a number yesterday without even realizing? I’m a dope. Okay, so today is actually “day 19” because I had two “day 17″s, which yes, I could easily go back and edit, but I’m not too bothered by my little blunder, so I’m gonna keep it. It adds a little character, right? Sure, whatever you say Jenny.

Anyway…today was a very lovely Friday that started out earlier than I had wished, but it was a good day so I don’t mind. I woke up and got ready for the day just like any normal school day because today was a day trip to Tuscania with my school. So we met at the school at 9:15 and we met the little bus that would drive us to Tuscania. We had a drive the was a little over an hour, so I closed my eyes on the way there for a bit, though it was incredibly difficult to sleep due to the fact that Roman roads are bumpy as can be.

Once we arrived we went to our university’s campus in Tuscania, which was adorable and actually more of a campus than our one floor campus that we have here in the city. Once we walked around their campus, we got a tour of the neighborhood it was in and it was BEAUTIFUL. I’m actually a little jealous of the students that study there because it’s lovely and peaceful. I do like my Rome experience, but Tuscania is just so cute. Though, if I studied there, I would be required to know Italian and so at this point, I would be completely screwed and wouldn’t be able to communicate with anyone at all.

After we wandered the neighborhood a little, we left campus and drove to a family’s organic farm in the countryside and they served us their food that they grow and raise on their property. It was absolutely delicious. Everything from the wine to the pasta to the cheese to the vegetables were all made there. After we had our meal, one of the family members showed us around the property in a very interesting way. We all had to take off our shoes and walk the property and feel it. It was very interesting, but I was more concerned with my feet getting dirty or stepping on a lizard (which nearly happened if he hadn’t scampered away). But it was still a nice experience. After that we had to get back on our bus to head back. When we got back I just came back to my apartment and have been relaxing all evening. It was a very good day all in all and I’ve concluded I really like Tuscania. The rest of this weekend should be pretty boring, but I’ll post regardless! Until tomorrow–arrivederci!
