Finals week is looming, and the studying that the local students do is nothing like I’ve ever seen before. Whereas American students are usually given assignments and readings to do throughout the semester, this is not the norm here. Students are more self-motivated, in a way. Three weeks away and the study rooms are already packed with students “cramming.”
I’ve been invited to go to Denmark next week. Given that everyone else is studying, I’m unsure if this is a good idea. It appears I only have one or two finals, though, and barely a month’s worth of material to memorize. We shall see. I must say I’m not happy with the uncertainty of the academics here. It is like I am back to the first semester of my freshman year. Except I don’t have textbooks to fall back on and I’ve had no prior knowledge of how any of the exams will be. Fingers crossed!
