Ghana Faculty Led Summer Info Session: October 7. The
first informational meeting for the Ghana Summer 2014 study abroad trip is
Monday, October 7 at 3:00pm in Kimpel Hall 203! If you're interested in the

Belize Info Session: October 9 and 10. Come learn about the Community
Development in Belize summer 2014 program! The session will include pizza,
pictures and information! Since it's a drop in session, you can come and go as
your schedule permits. If you can't make it to this event, there will be another
drop in session on Thursday, October 10 from 11:30am-1:00pm in WCOB 326. For more information,

African Heroes: October 10. African Student Organization (ASO) is having an
event on Thursday, October 10th, 11-2pm in the Union Connections Lounge. There
will be a display to present and honor leaders from Africa in various fields
such as economics, medicine, arts, politics and more. This event aims to
educate the University community about Leaders in Africa.
ISO Homecoming Tailgate: October 12.The International Student Organization will be
hosting a tailgate party for our homecoming game on Saturday, October 12 at 9
a.m., in front of Holcombe Hall. Come mingle with the university’s
international community and enjoy free food, fun and games- including a photo booth!
Chancellor Gearhart will be making a special appearance; don’t miss this game
day festivity!
Office of Study Abroad Scholarship Deadline: October
15. The Office of Study
Abroad offers a scholarship of $200-$800 depending on the duration of the
program; students should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and the program must be
approved by Office of Study Abroad. The deadline for those going abroad the
Spring 2014 semester is October 15 and the deadline for those going abroad in
the Summer and Fall 2014 term is February 15. The application is available online
or from the Office of Study Abroad.
WCOB Study Abroad Scholarship Deadline: October 15. The Walton College of
Business Study Abroad Grant is a great way to earn funding for your study
abroad! Depending on the duration of the program as well as level of need
and/or merit, award amounts vary. Must be a WCOB degree-seeking student to be
eligible to apply. Visit the Walton

representative Brigette Thompson will be on campus to talk about study abroad
opportunities through American Institute for Foreign Study Abroad. AIFS offers
a wide variety of study abroad programs at accredited schools and universities
for summer, semester and academic year terms. AIFS programs are available in
Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Czech Republic,
England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Russia,
South Africa, Spain, and Turkey. Multi-country programs are also available. Stop
by the Union Mall (Union Food Court in case of rain) on October 18 from 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. to learn more!
