A Gondola Ride in Venice: Day 13 #HogsAbroad in Rome

I know I said it yesterday, but I’ll say it again…I am so in LOVE with Venice. It’s so lovely and it’s just such a cool city. Today we started off going to Murano and got to see how they blow Venetian glass. It was amazing and I bought myself a few souvenirs that I’m pretty excited about! We ate lunch on Murano, toured the glass museum and then came back to the main part of Venice in hopes of seeing St. Mark’s Basilica, but unfortunately the water bus took too long getting there and it closed 5 minutes before we arrived.

From there, I really wanted to find Hard Rock Venice, so we asked someone local and he rather than giving directions, walked us right there. We looked around Hard Rock for a little bit, I bought a shirt and then we moved on from there. We decided on taking a gondola because we were in Venice, so why wouldn’t we? Though they’re RIDICULOUSLY expensive, they’re so worth it. The views are beautiful and once you’re out in the canal it’s more peaceful away from all the tourists. Our gondolier was very sweet and gave us a little tour and told us about how he became a gondolier. He was very charming and made the experience even better. When we finished with our gondola ride, we headed back toward the main land where we were staying. It was a sad goodbye for me because I grew to love the city so much in the past two days, but I hope to be back again some day. Tomorrow morning we have a train back to Rome and then I’ll be back to my normal schedule. This weekend was definitely a lovely little trip and I’m so glad we took it. Until tomorrow–arrivederci!
