Chasing Waterfalls #HogsAbroad in Belize

On our first full day in Belize the people of Peacework wanted to create an opportunity for us to get to know some of the locals.

They planned for us to go on a hike to a waterfall spot where we could all swim and have lunch.  50 Arkansas students and about 20 locals all piled on a school bus and made our way to the waterfall spot.  Once we got there we hiked about a mile on a path through the jungle until we came across the waterfalls.  Since we were all boiling hot from the hike in the 90 degree weather we all ran and jumped in.

At first a lot of the locals were shy and kept to themselves but then after we all hung out for a while they started to open up.  I went up to one little boy and asked him his name.  He told me his name was Justin and asked me if I wanted to jump off the dock with him.  Me and Justin held hands and ran and leaped off the dock into the water.  He introduced me to some of his other friends and we all hung out and had a great time getting to know each other.
