Course Areas Offered: Beginning Italian, Core Credits (World Civ 1 & 2, Basic Art and Basic Architecture), European Area Studies and upper level Humanities credit.
Excursions: Students will spend time in Rome, learning Italian language and have afternoons to explore important cultural sites around Rome and the surrounding areas. There will be one weekend excursions (likely Florence), two day trips (likely to the Lazio Region), as well as plenty of free time for students to explore on their own.
Estimated Costs: $3,715 (includes UA tuition for 6 udergrdauate hrs) + Airfare (est. between $1,000 and $1,200) + Personal Expenses
Location: The UARC is conveniently located in the center of Rome in one of the most important palaces in Rome, Palazzo Taverna, not far from Piazza Navona and the Vatican City. Palazzo Taverna belonged to the Orsini Family from 1286 and in the year 1328 the site took the name of Mount Giordano, the name of Giordano Orsini, Roman Senator in 1341. The UA Rome Center is housed in the Empire wing of the Palazzo and includes design and humanities studios, classrooms/AV rooms, libraries, a fashion laboratory, faculty and staff offices as well as computer labs.
