Namaste! My name is Gabby Compton and I am a junior studying
Biomedical Engineering here at the University of Arkansas. I had the wonderful
opportunity to study abroad in Bangalore, India, the summer after my freshman
year. I studied abroad with the UA Faculty Led Global India program, and spent six
weeks traveling throughout different areas of India, learning about the rich
culture and history.

Before
my experience I had never had the opportunity to travel outside the country,
but now I can say I have been to one of the most culturally diverse places in
the world! India is so vastly different from home – the people, places, food,
culture – but it is absolutely beautiful.

My time spent in India was an enriching and eye -opening
experience for me, and I had no idea I would learn as much as I did. It has
allowed me to grow personally, and I can truly say studying abroad in India was
by far the greatest experience in my life!

Studying in India is what has sparked my interest in travel.
I have recently started working for the Study Abroad Office as a Peer Advisor,
and will have the opportunity to tell others about Study Abroad and help them
have the same sort of opportunity that I’ve had. I’m excited for the chance to
tell others about my experience, and hope I can encourage them to travel
abroad!
