I have now been in Florence for
exactly two weeks! In the beginning I was very nervous because we went to Rome
first and it was much too big! After getting to Florence, however, I fell in
love! We could choose between an apartment with roommates or a homestay with an
Italian family. I chose an apartment and I am living with seven other girls. I
was also worried about this but my roommates and I all have our own room and
bathroom and our apartment is more nice than I could have ever imagined!!! We
are right next door to the local supermarket and a million delicious
restaurants! It is perfect and we all get along great! My first day of class
was a bit overwhelming as I am taking History of Florence and no nothing about
Florence previous to arriving. However, I am very happy with my decision to
take this class because we go on different field trips every single day and it
is so interesting! I have already learned so much. Although it is not as easy
as I was hoping, I am glad I am being challenged and learning so much and I
would not change my decision if I could go back. Tonight my friend from home
and her family are here and they are taking me out to dinner and I am very
excited to see familiar faces! I have not been homesick other than missing my
friends and family! Florence is beautiful and I am so happy with my decision to
study here! It is very homey and quaint and feels like I could stay here for
years!
