Aperitivo in Trastevere: Day 15 #HogsAbroad in Rome

Hello readers! This morning started out like a typical Monday morning…forgetting I didn’t buy milk to have with my cereal so not eating breakfast, literally just missing my bus meaning I had to take the 20 minute walk in about 15 minutes time and then getting to class on time but having a quiz. It wasn’t the worst morning in the world, but it wasn’t the best either.

After I got back from class I ate a little something and then ran to the store because I was low on food. When I got back I sat around for a little while just hanging out and eventually ended up falling asleep to a thunderstorm outside. I woke up and had a little time to get ready to get ready to go to a planned “extracurricular” activity with my school.

Today it was a trip to get aperitivo (you pay a set price for a drink and an unlimited buffet of appetizers) in Trastevre (little neighborhood where lots of good bars and restaurants are) and a little tour of the neighborhood. The only people that had signed up to go were my roommates, the girls in the apartment downstairs and me, so we met up with our teacher that was going with us and left for Trastevre. We got there and toured the neighborhood a little bit and then got to the restaurant for aperitivo. I tried a local drink called a Spritzer which was a fruity kind of drink and it was decent, but I wasn’t too much of a fan of it. The appetizers were delicious though. My favorites were a pesto pasta, cinnamon apples and bread. It was all delicious and the company was nice as well!

Once our teacher left us for the evening, we explored a little more and then headed back towards our apartment building. We took a little detour and walked past the Colosseum to see it all lit up and then also stopped for gelato on our street before we got back to our apartments. It was a really nice little evening and a pleasant way to end the day for sure. Tomorrow morning I have to wake up a little earlier than normal for a field trip I’m taking with my class, but it takes a little longer to get to than the others, so I’m going to call it a night for now! I’ll post again tomorrow! Until then–arrivederci!
