A Trip to Venice: Day 12 #HogsAbroad in Rome

Hi everyone! I’m in Venice this weekend and have wifi (hurray!) so I can still update you on what’s happening with me. I’ll fill you in about getting to Venice last night and then talk about my day today.

So, yesterday we went to a wine tasting through my school, which wasn’t supposed to take too long and we would be fine to get to our train on time if we left right when it was over…which seemed almost too perfect. Well, it was too perfect. We ended up leaving right before the wine tasting was even over to catch a train to get us to the main train station that would take us to Venice and it was far too frantic for my liking to be honest. We literally JUST made our train by about two minutes and I was ready to be in tears and just did not even want to travel anymore.

Our train was about 3 hours and 45 minutes long and I just wasn’t feel it at that point, but I had to deal with it because I wasn’t about to waste the money I spent on my ticket and I was already on the train. I was basically expecting the worst from this trip. On the train I just listened to music and played a game on my computer because I had nothing else to do and kind of figured it would feel far too long. At one point, one of the boys I traveled with, went to go get a snack from the snack car and came back with a little can of Pringles for me because he remembered I mentioned that I had wanted them a few days ago and it made me smile, so that was nice.

When we finally got to Venice, I was just ready to get to where we were staying and call it a night. We got here, settled in and called it a night. I didn’t sleep well at all because it was incredibly warm in our room and the pillows aren’t comfortable in the least, but I was ready to get to the island. We had to take a bus to get to where the island and canals and such started, but once we did, I fell in love. Venice is so beautiful and I loved just being on our water bus feeling the breeze and looking at the city. It was gorgeous.

When we got off our water bus, we sort of just wandered a little and then came across a few museums. We went into the museums and spent a good chunk of the day in them, though I couldn’t tell you what they were called unfortunately. Once we left the museums we walked around a little more and decided it was a good time for dinner. We found a little place to eat and sat and talked for a while. Dinner conversation was very pleasant. After dinner we just wandered a little more, got some gelato and got back on the water bus to head back to where we were staying. Though we didn’t do too much today, it was very enjoyable and I totally fell for the city of Venice. I’m excited to go back tomorrow and spend even more time there. I’ll be sure to post again tomorrow about our next adventure around the city. Until then–arrivederci!
