Zeus' Birthplace and the Beach, Greece Day 3 #HogsAbroad

Once again we woke up super early to head to Elafonisi beach! We got on a big bus that made several stops to pick up other people. I think throughout this trip I have heard every language spoken on the planet. I get kind of excited when we find other Americans because it’s only happened once so far. On the way to the beach we drove through some gorges which were terrifying because at some points the bus looked like it was leaning over the edge with a 500 ft drop down, and the drivers make no attempt to touch the brakes while rounding corners.

We then stopped at a cave that according to Greek mythology was where Zeus was born! It was incredibly beautiful. We then carried on to the beach which took a couple more hours. We were so excited to hop in the water once we got there, but to our dismay it was ice cold and super windy. The wind was blowing so hard continuously with no stop.

The beach still looked absolutely breathtaking though. After a few hours of being huddled up in the fetal positions shivering and sore teeth from chattering we were pretty relieved to head back. Once we got back we had dinner and then traditional Cretan/Greek dancing lessons. The lessons were very fun and easy until the music picked up and it got faster. We all had a really good time though. Then we headed to bed early because we had to be up even earlier for our hike.
