I’ve now ventured on my own to the Garden Route, an incredibly
beautiful and scenic part of South Africa. Specifically, I’ve landed at
Fairy Knowe Backpackers, a hostel inside the area known as the
Wilderness and my home for the next four weeks. Lots already to say abut
the place, but I will save it for my next post! For now here’s a recap
of the study abroad trip following our safari.
–Apartheid Museum: Between the written testimonies, video clippings,
and an actual armored tank, visiting the apartheid museum provides
visitors with insight into what apartheid looked like and how it has
shaped South Africa today. No pictures allowed at the museum.
–Cape Town: The rest of our trip was spent in and around Cape Town.
Some of the highlights include visiting Robben Island, traveling to the
Cape of Good Hope, and hiking Table Mountain. Lots of pictures to
follow!

ex-political prisoners that were held there. |
