This picture was (sneakily) taken at my visit to the
beautiful Taj Mahal. No matter the occasion, Indian women always seemed to wear
bright colorful clothing, and I was finally able to capture it in a picture. I
love this photo because the bright colors stand out against the white marble of
the Taj, and the women also serve as a scale for how large the Taj really is. This
picture will always remind me of how vibrant and beautiful India truly is.

This picture is a close up of the Qutub Minar in Dehli – the
2nd tallest minaret in India. It was part of the Qutub Mosque
complex, and is considered a UNESCO World Heritage site. The minaret is 73
meters (238 feet) high, made of sandstone and marble, and is covered in
intricate carvings and Arabic inscriptions and calligraphy taken from the
Qur’an. Many of the palaces and mosques we visited had intricate carvings like
this, but this was the one I found the most beautiful.

Lastly, my most favorite photo is of the Kolukkumalai Tea
Estate, the world’s highest tea plantation. This was taken the last week of my
travels, near Munnar in southern India. Kolukkumalai is roughly 7900 ft above
sea level; this picture was taken from our bumpy jeep ride halfway up the
mountainside. Once we made it to the top, we got to tour the old tea making
facility, try fresh delicious tea, and wander about the estate. These rolling
hills of tea were the most picturesque part of my India experience.
