New Language-Learning Tool for U of A Students!
Excited to go overseas and practice a foreign language? While speaking a foreign language beforehand isn't a requirement for many Study Abroad programs, a lot of students find that speaking a little bit of the local language makes their experience abroad even more rewarding and enriching, for reasons varying from ease of shopping and getting around town, to communicating with friends and host families in another language. Whether you have no language training at all or have the basics down already, the University of Arkansas Libraries now offer you a chance to learn a language online outside of the classroom! U of A Libraries have purchased a one year subscription to a great language-learning tool called Mango! Mango offers online learning for dozens of languages, from Spanish, French, and German, to Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, and Hindi, and many more! The U of A Libraries' site explains that "Mango uses conversational settings and real-life situations to make learning easy and fun. Create your own personal account and learn at your own pace. You can also use a built-in Translate utility. Mango also offers mobile apps for iPhone and Android so you can take the classroom with you." Check it out here! If you like it, contact U of A Libraries (or email libweb@uark.edu) to give your feedback about keeping the program for next year!
