Community Health Learning in Dangriga #HogsAbroad in Belize

Our students started the week with presentations to Dangriga Community Health Workers. CHW identified that hand washing to prevent disease, feminine hygiene, general nutrition, childhood illness identification and prevention, were areas that required engaging teaching techniques that could easily be brought into their communities.

Of course, the training ended in a hog call!
Students also made house calls with the local Palliative Health Team (similar to Hospice) which provided the unique opportunity for students to enter Belizean homes, meet and talk with families, gaining firsthand knowledge regarding the effects of healthcare systems and policy in Dangriga.
These visits also ended in a hog call.
