What we do to save money. For example taking 3 non connecting flights
with a total travel time from house to dorm of about 30 hours. Yes,
that’s what I did.To get to campus I took 3 flights, a bus, and a taxi. I traveled with Southwest Airlines from Dallas to Los Vegas, yes wrong direction. After that I traveled with Norwegian Air Shuttle to Copenhagen, yes overshot the destination. Moreover, I traveled from Copenhagen to London’s Luton airport with RyanAir.
Keep in mind between these flights I had to retrieve my baggage, go through customs when necessary, recheck my baggage, go through security again, and then wait for a few hours of layover. I was also doing all this running around in a sweatshirt and a very heavy coat.
You’d think I’d have been able to sleep well on the 10 hour flight to Copenhagen, but no. I actually slept more on the flight to London.
Furthermore, I was eating quite a bit throughout this trip, because after a (short) while I had no idea what my internal clock was at.
Lastly, I took a bus from Luton airport to Stansted. From there I was going to take a bus straight to campus, but it appears it doesn’t run on school holidays. After attempting to take and Uber with poor WiFi connection, I finally sucked it up and took a cab. This turned out to be a good thing because my driver has a son at the University, so he knew his way around.
Until next time,
Reed
