Five countries in two weeks (part one) #HogsAbroad

December 25th: the take off

Our travels started Christmas Day. I was sitting in DFW airport overwhelmed with excitement I could barely sit still. Natalie I spent our time waiting to board the plane people watching, making funny faces at each other, and wondering who allowed us in public. I barely slept the night before and I definitely didn’t sleep on the plane because of my extreme level of travel jitters. But we were finally off. I was still amazed that this was about to be my life and that I was heading to Europe to travel for 2 weeks(!!!!!!!)

December 28th: the FOOOOODDD
La Boqueria cured meat
Vioko ice cream

  ALL THE CHURROS

It’s been 3 days in Barcelona and I’m pretty sure I’ve already gained 10 pounds. The way we decided we were going to do Barcelona was, walk everywhere and if the food looked good we ate. Tapas eating style is definitely my favorite. The food is cheap, it comes in perfect portions, and you can eat 6 times a day and it’s okay. We visited La Boqueria every day we could and had the best climentimes ever, the ripest tomatoes, and oh my god the cured meats. Like woah. Barcelona will forever have my heart and my stomach grew 3 sizes from that city.

Decmeber 31st: New Years Eve and The Sprawl

when in Paris, you have to eat Maccaroons

The Louvre

New Years Eve shenanigans with my sister/BFF
You should know what this is
In Paris, “The Sprawl” was invented. The Sprawl is the point when eating where you are so beyond full that you literally have to stretch your whole body and literally sprawl out after eating, or so you can eat more food. My best advice, don’t order two dishes that have the same delicious mushroom sauce. One of the best meals we had was at this little French resturant called La Robe de la Girafe. So once again, we found ourselves eating our way through the city. We had to stop for macaroons (which I’m still amazed at the fact we made it 10 steps out the door before we ripped into them. I was expecting one the moment after we paid).

We of course went to the Louvre and “saw” the Mona Lisa and tried to take a cute picture with the pyramid but obviously failed. Seeing the Eiffel Tower in real life is beyond words. No picture could do it justice. It’s so beautiful. And finally our New Years shenanigans. Apparently Americans are very loud, or at least Natalie and I are, because the lady at the place we were celebrating at made a point to tell us we were the loudest ones there. She loved us and our Texas accent though so I feel like it’s fine.

All and all the first two cities were beyond what I could’ve ever hoped for and I can’t wait to go back and eat even more food. Stay tuned for part 2!!!
