Well, hello there internet and potential study abroad students. I didn't see you come in. Would you care to take a seat by the fire, make yourself comfortable.
My name is Alex Pang and I recently returned from a semester abroad in Japan. I suppose, I'll take this time to talk about my experiences in Japan which I hope prospective study abroad to Japan students can glean some wisdom from. The program I was apart of was the exchange program with Kanto Gakuin University in Kanazawa-hakkei near Yokohoma.
I guess I'll start with the beginning, the very beginning. Some basic advice: stay on top of your application process and be sure to do it as soon as possible. I had a scare where I almost didn't make it because I was a day late with sending some paperwork and that wasn't fun. The semester before (heck, even two semesters before) I'd recommend looking into scholarships. They're there and are really useful. If you don't know where to start, just ask the Study Abroad Office about specific scholarships for studying abroad. It's a gold mine.
When writing the personal essay, it doesn't need to be much longer than about a page. If there are any questions pertaining to content within it, I'll update this part later.
I'd recommend at least two recommendation letters
